Calgary Foothills Primary Care Network (CFPCN) is a network of over 500 family doctors and health professionals serving northwest Calgary and Cochrane.

The challenge

CFPCN's old website had been around for more than seven years, and while it worked, it didn’t reflect the quality of care they provide. Navigation felt clunky, the design was dated, and it was hard for patients to quickly find relevant information, such as healthcare resources on specific topics or which doctors were accepting new patients.

The solution

Our goal was to make it easier for people to find the healthcare support they need and show CFPCN’s quality care through a modern, friendly web experience. Every part of the redesign focused on putting patients first.

Built a smart search experience

We added a global search filter accessible right from the top utility navigation and a search CTA in the hero banner. This makes it easier for users to type in a health topic (e.g. diabetes, mental health) to find relevant articles and practitioner profiles.

Created a directory for family doctors

To help people find a family doctor or clinic in their area, we designed a searchable directory. Users can filter by things like gender, language, and whether the physician or clinic is accepting new patients. We supported both list and map views so people can browse in the way that makes sense for them.

Organized news and health resources

We built a news and resources page with topic-based filtering so users can easily access the health information that matters most to them.

Gave the site a visual refresh

Their existing web colours were vibrant, but the cartoon illustrations made the site feel too youthful. We adjusted the colour palette with bold, saturated swatches balanced by softer tints. We also updated the visuals with modern graphics, icons, and real photos. This created a warm, approachable, and more sophisticated design.
