Careers in Energy (CIE) is Canada’s go-to resource for energy workforce data, career guidance, and labour market insights. They support job seekers, employers, HR teams, and government partners across traditional oil and gas as well as emerging sectors like renewables, cleantech, and digital energy solutions.
The challenge
Canada’s energy industry is evolving fast, and CIE needed a website that could keep pace. Their previous site had great content, but it didn’t reflect the scale of change in the sector or make it easy for diverse audiences to access labour data, career planning tools, and resources.
The solution
Our goal was to build a modern, intuitive platform that helps job seekers explore opportunities, supports employers with workforce insights, and reinforces CIE as Canada’s central hub for energy careers.
Modern UX & visual refresh
After conducting a thorough UX audit of CIE’s old site, I redesigned the interface using their updated visual identity, creating clean layouts, clearer hierarchy, and a responsive design that makes it easy for users to explore careers, resources, and tools.

A section that explains Canada’s energy landscape with interactive visuals, videos, and glossary tools, helping visitors get a clear understanding of traditional and emerging sectors.

The outcome
The redesigned website makes career exploration and labour market research easier and more intuitive. It positions CIE as a forward-thinking, central resource for Canada’s energy workforce, with a modern, user-focused interface that has received highly positive feedback from job seekers, employers, and government partners.
