The Yukon Arts Centre (YAC) is Whitehorse, Yukon's main cultural venue, featuring a theatre and public gallery. As a non-profit organization, its mission is to support and present arts and culture from Northern, local, and Indigenous artists, aiming to be a model for a creative North.

The challenge

YAC needed a modern website that reflected the North's creativity and Indigenous heritage. The previous site lacked clear navigation, visual cohesion, and a strong sense of identity, making valuable content difficult for audiences to explore.

The solution

Our goal was to build a site that celebrates Northern creativity while making it simple for visitors to discover what the centre offers.

A visual system rooted in the North

Working with Creative Director Landis Doyle, I helped shape a clean, warm visual style inspired by the Yukon landscape and local arts culture. The updated colours, typography, and layout feel grounded and modern, giving the site a strong sense of place.

Clear navigation and easy event browsing

We simplified the site structure and built a more intuitive “What’s On” section. Visitors can quickly filter performances, exhibitions, and programs, making it easier to find something to attend.

A modern home for the permanent collection

To spotlight YAC’s Northern and Indigenous artworks, we designed a flexible, mosaic-style gallery with simple filtering. Users can explore pieces by artist, medium, or theme without getting lost.

Flexible templates for a growing site

We created modular page templates so the YAC team can easily add exhibitions, stories, and visuals while keeping everything consistent and polished.
